Child Sexual Exploitation
What is Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)?
- Sexual exploitation is a form of sexual abuse in which a young person is manipulated or forced into taking part in a sexual act, often in return for attention, affection, money, drugs, alcohol or accommodation.
- The child might think that their abuser is their friend but the abuser might physically or verbally threaten them and be violent towards them
- The abuser might control and manipulate them and try to isolate them from friends and family
Each school or academy has a Child Sexual Exploitation Champion whose responsibility is to train staff to look for signs of CSE and to report it as a safeguarding issue.
If you have concerns regarding children and young people being exploited, or are at risk of being exploited, please contact our SENCO.
